I don't understand why anyone would think that that area would be a "climate haven" when it's physically in range of hurricanes.

Wouldn't a place like the Midwest, like Wisconsin be much more of a "climate haven"?

I guess what climate disaster could we expect to happen to Wisconsin?

Extreme cold. If you live in a solidly earthquake tolerant building, the west coast has much better overall resilience.

For the PNW, "really hot" has recently meant more days than usual in the 90s, and a week or two at, like, 100 or 105.
