I take a guess it is flagged because it the article itself does not give details on the situation and some of the comments are horrible. People are coming up with scenarios about being arrested if you own iPhone 16 while the situation is that at most your IMEI will be blocked from the local services so you will not be able to connect to local networks. It is not even something unique, Indonesia imposes block to illegal imported phones (That does not adhere to their regulation since many years) [1]

So I think the discussion went very far into flamewar. So some people flagged it ( I did not and I haven't seen it expect from visiting your link)

Imagine if every country had a 40% parts rule. You'd need to design a phone that's 4000% parts.

Indonesia is a very large country, with a large and low cost work force (along with a lot of drawbacks). They're probably safe to demand local production of parts.

Also some degree of forced IP transfer too. I see why they do it.
