Sourcegraph is how enterprises industrialize software development with AI. We accelerate and automate how software is built in the world's most important companies, including 7/10 top software companies by market cap and 4/6 top US banks.
Every successful codebase becomes large and complex. Instead of improving the product, devs spend more of their time just understanding the code and doing low-level tasks. The solution is to accelerate humans doing what they're best at--and to automate the rest with AI agents, meaning more creativity and less toil for devs.
Sourcegraph is the industrial software development platform, accelerating human devs with contextual AI and automating toil away with AI agents, and it's proven today in the world's most important companies. Our tech stack combines frontier technologies in code search, static analysis, and LLM training and evaluation. Our founders code!

We’re creating robots that autonomously construct buildings. We design all of our hardware and software in-house in central Amsterdam, starting with autonomous bricklaying robots.
Building a robot like this means solving all sorts of interesting challenges: figuring out the robot's position with sub-mm precision; navigating autonomously around the building site; automating measurement and calibration of new robots; lots of distributed systems and so on.
Our robots are now continuously deployed on customer sites and we are earning real money as a masonry contractor. The full team is more than 50 people and we're growing rapidly to meet demand.
Our stack is mostly: Rust, TypeScript, Python, NixOS.
Some open roles:
- Software Engineer, Controls
- Software Engineer, Machine Vision
- Assembly/manufacturing technicians and robot operators

P.S. We're always on the lookout for very strong generalist engineers who can operate at any layer of the stack (firmware, networking, UI, application code - whatever's needed!) Drop me an email if this sounds like you.
Other's are welcome to correct me though, if it's off.
How much is language a barrier for these kinds of jobs? I'm a native speaker of English and think that I can become proficient with French again within 3-6 months of immersion.

Brilliant is building world-class interactive learning experiences that combine challenging problems, compelling narratives, and delightful visual storytelling.
We're hiring for a number of engineering roles to help craft the next generation of interactive learning and change how the world learns.
Engineers at Brilliant think about both "building the right thing" AND "building the thing right" while pursuing high standards of excellence for ourselves, our product, and our codebase.
If you're energized by the prospect of doing the best work of your career and changing how the world learns alongside the most talented peers you've ever worked with, you can learn more and apply here: https://brilliant.org/careers.
So NYC staff are expected to work everyday until 6pm?
That said, the expectation is not that you're sitting idly at your computer for an extra 15 minutes at the end of the day if you've knocked out your work and are at a good stopping point. We hire adults and treat them as such :)
Also, many folks on the team have familial and other responsibilities that they need to tackle during this window, and the team is very flexible about scheduling around these (especially given advance notice when possible).
Could you share more about the interview process?
I just applied and believe the role is an excellent fit for my experience and my passion for learning new things.
I'm used to being on the other side of the table, and in my experience, as long as you have strong relevant experience for what they need and put effort into the application, companies tend to move quite fast.
I also only apply to a few companies for positions that I find interesting and where I know I can bring value. My response rate has always been 90%+, even when I don’t know anybody there or have a referral.
Meanwhile, most people nowadays apply to anything with 'software' in the title and are surprised when they don’t hear back.
Our interview process is as follows:
* 30 min Zoom call with me
* Technical take home assessment (paid, designed to be reasonably close to the job)
* Panel interview with two engineering leaders
* Virtual onsite
Looking forward to reviewing your application!
As far as technical interviews go, are there any leetcode style questions involved, or are they more practical, like the take-home assessment you mentioned?
UPDATE 2: we have a more current posting here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43863977. We believe we've responded to everyone who submitted in April. Also, prmehta asked "what is an enlightened business" - hard to condense, but roughly, one that is worried about helping people as well as making money.
UPDATE: we had 72 submissions by April 7. We have currently processed resumes for everyone who submitted up through April 4, and are a little behind schedule on reaching out to folks with results. If you submitted and haven't heard from us, we are hoping to be in touch ASAP! Thank you. And yes, meanwhile, we are still accepting submissions.
I’m the founder, trying to do “enlightened business.” We are a small, worker-first, fully-remote, SF-based, boutique indie tech agency. Our leadership staff are ex-Fortune 100; everybody codes. Notable recent projects: internal tools for Anduril, and voltagepark.com.
We are looking for Full-Stack Software Engineers with proficiency in React development, database design, and third-party API integration. Tier3 roles are typically 5-10 y/o/e with $190-$270k annual total comp. Tier4 roles are 7-20 y/o/e, $240-$305k annual total comp. Higher tiers exist, and we welcome exceptional applications. Fully remote positions available.
Please apply using this Google Form: [REDACTED - please see more current job posting at top]. Applicants who submit before April 7 will receive a reply by April 11.
Applicants must meet a high bar; in return, I pledge my personal commitment to finding you interesting work and getting you good pay. You are free to submit again even if you have already done so in the past.
