Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (July 2025)

Please lead with either SEEKING WORK or SEEKING FREELANCER, your location, and whether remote work is a possibility.

Please only post if you are personally looking to hire a freelancer or work as one. Agencies, recruiters, job boards, and so on, are off topic here.

SEEKING FREELANCER | Remote | Integration Engineers, Content Writers

IPLocate is on a mission to provide developers with reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use IP address intelligence - geolocation, threat data, network information and more.

We're looking for engineers to write SDKs and integrations to use our APIs with popular programming languages, frameworks, and tools. We would prefer to work with multiple folks who are experts in their respective language/framework rather than a single engineer to write 20 integrations, so we'd love to hear about your experience.

We're also looking for content writers to help write practical tutorials, step-by-step guides, and real-world use cases for our website and blog, and for publication elsewhere (e.g. Medium, Dev.to).

Details and contact links: https://www.iplocate.io/build-for-iplocate

(We've recently launched this page as an open offer to interested folks. Get in touch with your details and we're happy to formalize an offer.)

SEEKING WORK | US/Canada Remote | Toronto Hybrid

I'm experimenting with a new model for CS education using advisors who follow and adapt to students' interests. The core idea is that students should learn how to learn early and to self-direct their own education. However, they need support for when they get stuck.

At the moment, I'm looking to work with students who have deep interests in CS/tech, but want something more dynamic than a fixed curriculum program.

Experience: * Self-taught programmer. * Worked on data engineering at a large hospital. * Ex-VC - worked on technology due-diligence. * Started independent R&D lab (www.ithron.com). * Designed this model based on my experiences hiring engineers.

Engagement model: * Work with students 1 on 1 * ideal age range is 16-21, * 2-3 hours of meetings per week + 15-20 hours of self-directed time * 3 month batches, can be extended to a full-year. * More info at: https://www.divepod.to
