I dislike this analogy because the "teleporter" is presented as a perfected and reliable risk-free device... which only needs to be made cheaper.

In our case, the much-hyped teleporter is known to unpredictably scramble the user's tissues (including their brains) in ways that we have no definite way to either detect or fix, and nobody rich is using it on themselves. They either prefer private jets, or they use it in ways where they can afford to fix any accidents.
