Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work, but I am open to work on any interesting project. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I value good teamwork over fancy tech, and I don't shy away from working on legacy code. I am primarily motivated by solving problems, so let me help you solve your problems.
I am open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.
While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
In addition, I want to use some of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. I also sponsor children that otherwise can't afford to go to school (see my website). If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.

I fix technical products that work but don't engage. You built something powerful. Early adopters get it. But broader adoption stalls because the experience doesn't create its own momentum. I specialize in that exact inflection point - making sophisticated tools feel like discovery rather than homework.
My approach comes from 10 years running an indie game studio. I apply behavioral psychology to B2B/developer tools. Not gamification - actual intrinsic motivation that makes the 100th use rewarding. Judge for IGF, MagFest, CODiE, GEE, Serious Games awards.
Recent work: Semantic analysis mapping 110M+ connections across 1.5M words. Previously: SpicyNodes (40M users), time.gov (pioneering govt web service), medical AI serving 1.5M patients.
I lead teams or ship directly via AI-assisted architecture. Looking for Series A-C companies (10-50 people) with products that need to feel less like enterprise Java circa 2003. Developer tools, learning platforms, technical products with adoption friction.
Seeking: Head of Product Experience, Director of Developer Experience, or whatever you call the role that makes your product sing.

My last full-time role was being in charge of product at a marketplace company. Since then I've been doing ML research full-time, funded by two novels I wrote that Penguin have published or are publishing. I'm really good at testing and shipping new ideas quickly, with a specific focus on the efficacy of new architectures.
I miss being on a team, and having project-specific focus, so if my portfolio (in the linked resume) is aligned with what you're working on, I'd love to hear from you.
The earlier stage and smaller, the better - I get the most joy from projects where I can see the impact of my research, and where I can take on genuine responsibility for my work's success or failure.
https://github.com/fmstephe/memorymanager An exploratory manual memory allocator for building large in-memory data structures with near zero GC cost.
https://github.com/fmstephe/matching_engine A financial trading matching engine with a somewhat novel red+black tree implementation.
https://github.com/fmstephe/flib A set of packages primarily in support of a lock-free single-producer single-consumer queue.
My ideal position would be working on backend systems primarily in Go.
