Does this impact the western digital and SanDisk brands too? IIRC those brands got folded into Crucial.

“The AI-driven growth in the data center has led to a surge in demand for memory and storage. Micron has made the difficult decision to exit the Crucial consumer business in order to improve supply and support for our larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments,” said Sumit Sadana, EVP and Chief Business Officer at Micron

AI is destroying so much. God knows how bad things will get once the bubble bursts.

Insane decision. This whole bubble is irrational.

> Enterprise customers pay more and buy in bulk.

Uh, isn't that normally a contradiction? bulk is cheaper(???)

The products they buy command a premium. Consumers are generally more price-conscious.

Another Big Tech company getting hollowed out to maximize short term profits.

This brand has existed for what, 20+ years? You dont think they can look at long-term trendlines of revenue and expenses?

Please explain how this is "short term" thinking.

Betraying a decades-long loyal customer base for a bunch of AI companies that might get wiped out in a couple of years.

Or maybe, consumer volume is dropping precipitously as more and more people rely on non-upgradable mobile devices, while competition is ramping up, and monopolistic sales channels, (i.e. Amazon), take a larger share of revenue?

The way GPUs went. It's not a bubble.
