Finishing up a CS master's this semester, looking for opportunities starting in July/August or the fall. Research focus in programming language theory, but experienced across the full stack. Most interested in R&D-related stuff, especially related to audio or music (my other degree). Potentially looking towards applying for PhD programs this fall as well, so would appreciate to know if anyone is recruiting students!

I have experience independently building/releasing apps/plugins, and contracting for small and mid-size businesses (handling both frontend and backend). Have also conducted and applied research, including technical implementation and communication (papers/presentations/documentation).

Location: Greater Boston Area, Massachusetts, USA

Remote: Can be! Can also travel, or do local stuff.

Willing to relocate: Not at the moment. Love Boston, sorry!

Technologies: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS, VMware ESXi/VCF/vCenter/Aria Ops, Microsoft Hyper-V, NetApp, Cisco, Palo Alto, some GCP/Azure, Hashicorp Packer, Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, Microsoft DNS/DHCP, Okta, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, JAMF, macOS, Microsoft InTune, WebEx, basically your entire enterprise IT stack short of ERP/HRIS directly

CV: 15+ progressive years in IT, working from DC Intern to Lead IT Engineer in prior role. Managed on-prem, cloud-only, hybrid-cloud, both major productivity/collaboration stacks (M365/Google Workspaces), endpoints, video conferencing, networking, and some telephony. Closed a $1bn+ M&A through remediation of enterprise IT issues in <6mo. Architected global datacenter refresh and migration to VMware stack, migrated Hyper-V to AWS in 6mo, reduced AWS bill by 60%, built showback for private cloud atop VMware Aria Operations (expandable to multi-cloud). Provided market research analysis for private cloud hypervisors/management systems, spearheaded IaC adoption within private cloud, and completed K8s PoC for private cloud estate atop VMware+ArgoCD.

Looking to make the jump into management, leadership, and/or architecture. Want to own what I build from greenfield to ongoing support. Strong focus on removing technological barriers and obstacles from daily work so folks can focus on getting stuff done instead of getting frustrated with IT.

Compensation Expectation: $140k and $170k USD gross yearly

Hello Hacker News! I'm a CompSci PhD (AI Multi-Agent systems... doing Agents' research back in 2004, before they were cool haha) and a passionate technologist with a warm spot for building high-impact products and teams.

For over 20 years, I've loved being a hands-on leader in FinTech, building everything from scalable crypto trading desks and AI/ML systems for fraud detection, to migrating entire platforms from monoliths to robust, cloud-native microservices. I thrive on aligning engineering with business goals and tackling complex distributed systems challenges.

Zero-to-One Success: Built foundational tech/AI/ML at a Fintech, enabling the company's Series A. Executive & Scaling Experience: CTO of a crypto trading desk; Head of Engineering, Product or AI/ML at high-growth FinTechs.

I'm actively looking for a remote role. I am most comfortable as first/founding engineer, also have been head-of/cto whatever the name building startup's technology teams. Right now I am most interested in doing AI/LLM work, like really pushing the status quo of both the Engineering and AI/ML. (I would love to get into something like SSI).

I'm a backend engineer specializing in data services and infrastructure automation, with a proven track record in cutting infrastructure costs through distributed systems design and open source tools.

In the past 4 years I have mostly built backend services around our company's data lake as well as maintaining its infrastructure, which consists of several regional kubernetes and kafka clusters.

I am also familiar with the argo ecosystem, heavily using ArgoCD and argo-workflows currently.
