Hello HN! I'm a Staff Software Engineer with a variety of backend experience. I helped Discord scale its WebRTC system and helped guide its media infra (blog post: https://discord.com/blog/how-discord-resizes-150-million-ima... ). Currently open to work where I can put my skills to use and help get your projects into production.
Some of my personal and working traits: I'm a big fan of data-driven decision making. I think the best time to think about "how are we going to deploy this" is before any code gets written. I think empathy is underrated and I prefer over-communication to under-.
Cheers!

Finishing up a CS master's this semester, looking for opportunities starting in July/August or the fall. Research focus in programming language theory, but experienced across the full stack. Most interested in R&D-related stuff, especially related to audio or music (my other degree). Potentially looking towards applying for PhD programs this fall as well, so would appreciate to know if anyone is recruiting students!
I have experience independently building/releasing apps/plugins, and contracting for small and mid-size businesses (handling both frontend and backend). Have also conducted and applied research, including technical implementation and communication (papers/presentations/documentation).
Profile: I'm a full-stack web and game developer with over a decade of experience. I've had roles with every part of web and games. My particular interest is unique web based interactions. I also started with AI by building my own poor man's version of AlphaGo back in like 2020 and have been using AI since. My current project is a web based raymarching game engine / artist tool: https://jesterswilde.dev/rmfw (requires webgpu, desktop only.)

Strategy & Analytics professional, 6+ years. Twice hired as the founding BI analyst at growing companies to build the analytics function from scratch. I understand startup dynamics and can create structure in fast moving environments.
What I'm good at: operations, building systems from ambiguity, translating between technical and business stakeholders, wearing multiple hats. Business generalist who can also write code and talk to engineers. I also follow AI and emerging tech markets very closely. Air Force veteran. Happy to chat.

Full-stack TypeScript developer with 8+ years of experience. Currently indie, shipped 5 iOS
apps to the App Store, each with its own Next.js site and Cloudflare Workers backend.
Previously built search frontend for a major travel agency in Barcelona across 4 brands, with
A/B testing and an NLP flight search prototype with the ML team. Then joined a fintech in
London, led a React migration, and mentored the team. After that, ran my own consultancy doing
Node.js/TypeScript backends and cloud infra on GCP and AWS.
Comfortable end-to-end: React/Next.js, Node.js/NestJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cloudflare
Workers, and third-party API integrations (OpenAI, Twilio, Yahoo Finance). I ship product, not
just code.
Looking for: full-stack roles. Contract or permanent.Remote: Can be! Can also travel, or do local stuff.

CV: 15+ progressive years in IT, working from DC Intern to Lead IT Engineer in prior role. Managed on-prem, cloud-only, hybrid-cloud, both major productivity/collaboration stacks (M365/Google Workspaces), endpoints, video conferencing, networking, and some telephony. Closed a $1bn+ M&A through remediation of enterprise IT issues in <6mo. Architected global datacenter refresh and migration to VMware stack, migrated Hyper-V to AWS in 6mo, reduced AWS bill by 60%, built showback for private cloud atop VMware Aria Operations (expandable to multi-cloud). Provided market research analysis for private cloud hypervisors/management systems, spearheaded IaC adoption within private cloud, and completed K8s PoC for private cloud estate atop VMware+ArgoCD.
