Ask HN: Notify about DNS records propagation

Hi there, I always had the pain of constantly dig'ing for a domain, and checking if the new expected IP address (or any other record type really) is finally written and propagated into all relevant resolvers.

So, I was thinking about automating this, wiring it up to email notifications or slack.. And webhooks would be cool - you could do some cool automation with those (chain with issuing a SSL cert)!!

Just wondering if I'm the only one who would pay a few bucks for this, or you guys don't share this pain point at all.

Have a magnificent day!

Do you mean something that looks up the IP from multiple locations like whatsmydns? [1] or do you mean it does this hourly to alert on changes?

Yeah partially, but what I'm missing here are primarily notifications, and perhaps the ability to specify the specific resolvers/nameservers you care about.

And yes, it would periodically check these resolvers/nameservers and maybe compare it with your rules or something like that? And perhaps it would monitor the entire DNS record change history since the time you set it up, so you could then apply some rules to that output and configure notifications on top of that?

I really don't have specific functionality in mind, just something that would solve that issue of me being bottlenecked by the constant checking of DNS records.
