Ask HN: What job boards are good these days?

I randomly opened LinkedIn, which has, for over a decade, been my go-to for job listings. Today, something was off. Search didn't work. The icons were overlapping with the search box. Clearly a product in decline, so what job sites are up and coming? (Besides the "Who's Hiring" thread, of course! :-]

Isn't that an exaggeration? Linkedin search works fine for me. I dislike all the other social media crap of linkedin, but I have found all my jobs in the last 16 years via linkedin.

To be honest job boards have become a joke. Like they post jobs there you apply and either you don't hear at all or a rejection mail and this happens everywhere on each board.

YC's jobs page is pretty good indicator of understanding who is not really hiring but advertising.

Working with good recruiters is my best advice now. They will actually talk to hiring managers and good corps will pay money for good people.

If you recieve any recruiter inbound, I would take their meeting and then let them know your goal of getting placed at whatever type of role youre looking for.

LinkedIn is purposely ruining their job search anyway. They're replacing the decent filter based search (with some of the better filtering options I've seen on job boards) with some fuzzy "AI" search feature. Garbage.

Among all the hiring scams, enshittified portals and overwhelmed HRs, I don't trust sites anymore. I might as well collect all the info myself and process it based on my needs.

I set up a funnel with an agent searching, adding to a SQLite for dedup and company limits enforcement, doing an ast pass on a resume, and then submitting.

It works upsettingly well

Thanks for the recommendation, hiring.cafe seems pretty good on first look and just made an account. I like how their mission is to "kill" indeed and linkedin. Had to revisit this thread after seeing it yesterday to refresh my memory after initially going to "coffeejobs.com" which is... not the correct destination.

Idk if it's the boards or the market. Been applying for 6 months. 4 call backs only 2 relevant, no offers. Day rates are nominally less than I was earning 10 years ago, which are about 1/3 worse due to inflation.

So shit all round tbh. Senior dev/SRE/AWS cloud engineer w/ 15 years experience. Bottom seems to have fallen out the market.
