Paramark | Software Engineer (L4) | San Francisco HYBRID (3 days/wk) or REMOTE (US) | Full-time | $199K–$249K + equity

Paramark helps Marketing teams optimize spend across all of their channels and programs. There are proven scientific ways to do this, but they are poorly understood and practiced by only a tiny fraction of teams. Our product ingests data from all of our customers' marketing channels and uses it to train open-source ML models for both measurement and experimentation. This makes it possible for any marketer to use these methods.

In this domain, it's hard to figure out what to build, and it's even harder to be both accurate and simple. You'll be joining a small team -- we have four product engineers. That means owning systems end to end and having real influence over what gets built. Your typical project will start with a high level goal, and you will figure out the rest.

Founded 2023, ~16 people, $8M from Greylock, cash-flow positive. Reasonable working hours: when the Mercury News covered the return of 996 culture, we were the counterexample. "We don't think early stage startup life requires 18-hour days, or even 12-hour days." https://www.mercurynews.com/2025/08/25/silicon-valley-startu.... 4 weeks PTO plus federal holidays, medical/dental/vision (100% of employee premiums, 50% for family).

Looking for 8+ years, full-stack. Some exposure to statistics, experimentation, or A/B testing helps.

Stack: TypeScript, React, Python, Postgres. Google Cloud, Kubernetes, FastAPI, taskiq.

Process: intro call; technical phone screen; one-day onsite in SF (travel covered for remote candidates)

In-person: https://paramark.com/careers/software-engineer-l4

Remote: https://paramark.com/careers/software-engineer-l4-remote

I'm the CTO and I read every application myself. Happy to answer questions in this thread.

Subimage (YC W25) | Founding Engineer | San Francisco, CA | ONSITE (5 days/week) | Full-time | $170K–$230K + 0.5%–1.0% equity | https://subimage.io

Hihi, I'm Alex, co-founder and CEO. Subimage maps infrastructure the way an attacker does so security teams at scale-ups and enterprises can find and fix problems. We're built on Cartography (https://cartography.dev), the open source infra mapping tool we helped create at Lyft and donated to the CNCF. It runs at over 70 companies, including 7 in the Fortune 100.

We're a tiny seed-stage team and our customers are companies your parents have heard of. We have more demand than we can build for, which is why this post exists. This is a chance to get in on the ground floor of something big (or to find out quickly that it won't work; just being upfront about it).

Some of the problems you'd be working on:

- Vulnerability triage with real context: is the asset internet-facing, through which services, is the vulnerable function actually reachable in code, are there compensating controls, and what sensitive data does it reach once exploited, across how many hops.

- Proving that the security fixes our agent proposes won't break anything.

- A near-real-time, self-updating map of an environment so you can see an attack as it happens, plus "time travel" in the graph so you can replay it afterward.

- Teaching an agent to answer questions about a large graph quickly, with only the context it needs and without making mistakes.

- Determining who owns a given resource from messy signals like tags, actions, logs, and files.

Stack: Cartography for ingestion, Neo4j for the graph, Python/FastAPI backend, Svelte frontend with a homegrown WebGL graph renderer, an MCP server that exposes all of it to agents, Terraform for IaC.

Who we're looking for: 3+ years at high-growth companies, strong distributed systems and cloud experience, a real sense of ownership, first-principles thinking, and a willingness to implement gnarly business logic (elegantly, ideally) if it makes a jaded security engineer's life easier. Kubernetes and security knowledge are nice to have, not required. You're in the Bay Area and want to be in the office five days a week.

Process: technical screen, call with the founders, a paid day working with the team, then offer. Health/vision/dental, 401k match, gym, team lunches, unlimited PTO.

Apply here and mention HN: https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/subimage/jobs/NCTFgKK-...

ArtCraft | Senior Engineers | SF (Onsite) / Atlanta (Onsite) | $150-$250k + Equity | https://getartcraft.com

Those fucking rent-seeking hyperscalers took the internet away from you, and we’re going to give it back to you and to everyone.

Web 1.0 was great - we had IRC, file sharing, third party chat clients. There were personal websites, forums. Flash was a format kids could use. Everything supported embedding and uploading. Websites actually had APIs and RSS. File sharing, FTP, MP3s, discs, owned media.

Broadband brought our parents and grandparents online, but the shift to the non-technical majority created an opportunity to grossly oversimplify everything. Everything dumbed down into a pre-packaged product. Startups began turning their offerings into walled gardens. Platforms took precedence over protocols. APIs and access and data export went away. And then the rent-seeking began. The era of ownership ended.

Corporate Memphis. Jesus Christ.

We’ve rallied a massive community to build MIT/Apache-licensed alternatives to Adobe, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Autodesk, SolidWorks, Slack, Discord, Unreal Engine, OpenRouter, RunPod, and more. The goal is full feature parity, with code anyone can own, inspect, modify, and build on.

We’re digesting second-class apps and platforms into first-class applications, libraries, and APIs with full MCP support. We’re distilling out the good parts, and we’re building the connective tissue that draws them together.

100% of the internet is going to be open source soon, and we’re going to force it open. Loudly.

We have eight figures in run rate revenue, over 20M app downloads and growing. Our community is the best part, and it’s energetic like a wildfire. Everyone resonates with our mission.

We’re missionaries, not mercenaries. We are going to slay the incumbents by being better. Our motto is Google’s old motto - “Don't be evil (tm)”.

We’re a tiny team looking for strong engineers to own major parts of the product: desktop apps, lots of completely open source backend infrastructure, agent workflows, agentic app factories. Stack: Rust, a sprinkle of TypeScript/React, egui, Tauri, MySQL/Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes. Lots and lots of Rust. We’re systems engineers by trade, but we like to vibe code Rust. Did I say Rust? Rust. Rust Rust Rust. Maybe that's a filter.

You have to be self-directed and independent. If you want to open source Salesforce with half your time, do it! If you want to work on Solidworks 3D printing applications, great! Writing music apps and DAWs? Go for it! Custom Discord/Slack clients for our custom, completely open source chat API and platform? Hell yeah. Our organization is flat, and we're going to go after everybody and everything.

Everything you build here will be open source. We have no private repos.

We can reclaim the internet. That’s our mission.

Want to know more about us? Look up “Adobe ArtCraft” on YouTube / TikTok / your platform of choice.

If this resonates with you, email hn@storyteller.ai with your Github, a little about yourself and something you’ve built. Write the sentence, “don’t take my RAM, Sam!” so we know you’re one of the good guys.

Complaining about the monotony of Corporate Memphis while forcing your own engineers into the physical monotony of an onsite tech-hub commute in SF or Atlanta is an incredible paradox.

I'm modeling ourselves after Valve, which strongly emphasizes on-site. Valve gives its folks tons of latitude and freedom in exchange for working together in a tightly-knit culture.

I'm not a stickler for showing up to work on time, and I'm a late riser / night owl myself. But the energy of being in a room together physically is extremely hard to beat.

I'm not doing this to micro-manage. I don't have time for that. I'm doing this to be a better version of myself. I get energy from working close to others, and I voraciously learn from my peers. I want people teaching me and helping me be better every single day. That might be selfish, but I thrive in that environment.

What we're doing is weird and experimental and there's a metric ton of discovery in literally every path we take. A culture built around documenting and reading notes isn't going to be fast enough. I'm more hands on than someone who can write 6-pagers and read everyone else's - like Shia LaBeouf's "just do it" energy.

I understand that this isn't a great fit for everyone, and I'm sorry.

I'm not allergic to remote once we're bigger, but we have an enormous mandate, and I want us to tackle it like an RPG final boss in the trenches together. We have a lot to build and prove and learn. Doing it together in person reduces the network hop effects and leads to more serendipity and exchange.

In a years' time, I want us to have built open source alternatives to large portions of the most used software. I want us to create a considerable shake up. I want us to have built new infrastructure to make the web more distributed and more P2P.

I think we stand a better chance if we're in a room together, hacking and engineering together. That's what my gut tells me.

I make films too, and that's frankly something that could never be fully remote.

This could really take off if the leadership can demonstrate remote-native work patterns. The on-site requirement is low oxygen.

Stratirus (a Tennetech company) | AI Developer + Linux Admin (junior to mid) | REMOTE (US only, Central Time hours) | US work authorization required, no sponsorship | Full-time or part-time, contract or hire | $65k to $100k | No agencies

Our optional take-home is a broken Ubuntu server: a service that won't stay up, a nightly report that hasn't gone out in days, and a disk that keeps filling. Fix it, write a script that heals a fresh box, and build a small read-only MCP tool so an AI agent can check on it. 60 to 90 minutes, unpaid, no LeetCode. If that sounds like fun, read on.

We're a small and growing AI and Microsoft 365 consultancy in Franklin, TN. We build AI agents and automation for small and mid-sized businesses, and harden and run the systems underneath: Microsoft 365 tenants, SharePoint, and Linux boxes. We're AI-agnostic and use what fits the client, mostly Claude Code, the Microsoft 365 stack with Copilot and Copilot Studio, Gemini and Gemini Studio, and Oracle OBI. The role is about 60% agent development (MCP servers, Claude Code, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Gemini) and 40% Ubuntu administration (systemd, Docker, patching, backups, monitoring). PeopleSoft experience is a plus. You'll work directly with clients, so explaining things clearly to a small-business owner matters as much as the code. Early-career and career-switchers welcome.

We expect you to use AI every day. What we hire for is knowing when it's wrong, so one of our three application questions asks about a time it fooled you.

To apply, email your resume to hiring@stratirus.com with short answers to: a time a client or boss made an unreasonable demand and how you handled it; a time an AI confidently gave you a wrong answer you followed, and how you caught it; and something you've built with AI that you still use. Work samples get strong preference. We read every application ourselves and reply to everyone, so please write your answers yourself.

Process: email application, a 45-minute video call where you walk us through something you've built, then a conversation about the role.

Remote within the US only, Central Time business hours. Must be legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future. No recruiters or agencies, please.

MixRank (YC S11) | Software Engineers | 100% Remote (Global) | Full-Time MixRank processes petabytes of data every month through web crawling. Hundreds of customers use our data products, including Google, Amazon, Facebook, Intel, and Adobe, across industries such as finance, recruiting, sales, marketing, and security. We’re a fully remote company with a global footprint across 20+ countries. We’re growing, profitable, employee-owned, and have no dependence on outside funding. Applicants from all geographies and backgrounds are welcome. We’re looking for passionate individuals for whom programming is not just a job, but something they genuinely love to do. We’re obsessed with computers, programming, big data, databases, compilers, hardware, math, data science, and the internet. Does this sound like you? Please apply to join our team. Our codebase is friendly to new contributors. You’ll have a fully functional development environment within hours through full automation and will be pushing commits on your first day. Deployments to production happen multiple times per day and finish in under two minutes.Effectively all of our codebase is written in Python, Rust, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Nix. The core technologies you’ll need familiarity with to be productive are Python, PostgreSQL, Linux, and Git. We operate at a larger scale than typical startups. We run two datacenters with high-performance servers we’ve built ourselves, capable of handling the volumes of data we process. We’ve implemented our own distributed file system, perform full-scale web crawls, and download and run static analysis on the entire universe of published Android APKs and iOS IPAs.

Unlike a typical startup where you might spend half your time in meetings and the other half fixing Jira tickets, at MixRank you’ll challenge yourself with difficult technical problems that help you grow as an individual. We’re continuously hiring for the positions below; these aren’t singular roles that close once filled. Our philosophy is that the candidate is more important than the position. For each new member of the team, we design a custom role and responsibilities around their interests. Other companies may create a long list of specific requirements with the expectation that you’ll exactly replace someone on the team or fit a role defined by committee. MixRank is more pragmatic: we first get excited about bringing a unique individual onto the team, then figure out the best way to support their specific talents.

Junior Software Engineer - Remote (Global), Full-Time

We’re looking for remote junior engineers with 0–3 years of professional software experience and 5+ years of curiosity exploring computers, programming, and technical hobby projects.

To stand out, please highlight what makes you unique: passion for computing, curiosity and side projects, work ethic, niche research, or anything else that shows how you think and build.

Ideally, you’ve already graduated. But if you still have one or more years left of school, please feel free to apply anyway. If you’re the right fit for the team, we’ll figure out a way to accommodate your schedule.

Software Engineer - Remote (Global), Full-Time

We’re hiring generalist software engineers to work on web applications, data mining, machine learning/data science, data transformation/ETL, data modeling, database scaling, infrastructure, DevOps, and more. We’ll tailor the role to the subset of areas that best match your interests.

Beneficial experience includes PostgreSQL, Python, Rust, Linux, TypeScript, Nix, frontend/backend web development, and data mining.

I’m Kiran, Chief of Staff at MixRank, a fully remote data startup building go-to-market intelligence. We’re US-incorporated but hire globally, and we’re bringing on new teammates to join a fast-moving team with real ownership and impact.
