postman has been malware since the day they added accounts many years ago. luckily only low skill cli fearing developers mostly gravitated to it, esp anytime in the past decade

Yes, this is very bad. I've alerted my team and we'll be deprecating its use immediately. Hopefully procurement can get refunds on the licenses we purchased not that long ago. Something tells me Postman is going to regret violating people's trust - the moat isn't so large that people must endure unethical, if not illegal, behavior like this.

In the Github issue filed, the context[1] for session start was authored by a Postman engineer [2] whose Github profile[3] page tagline is "I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up to No Good."

Yeah, I am sure that engineer was trying to be witty and clever, but now if Postman's ever got sued in court, the joke's on them.

Postman was amazing 6-8 years ago. What a downfall it’s been.

I think if you're using Postman, you don't care about sharing your data with random other people/companies on the intarwebs.

just last week i was looking for a tui version of postman and found https://github.com/darrenburns/posting

i've been using the beta since and am very happy. api checks are just yaml and can get stored in git to version and share and tui is nice and easy to drive via the keyboard

Postman feels pointless when I have an agent plus curl.

Postman management is something else. I remember a few years ago, once they had that VC money, they made it so you had to log/pushed you to. funny, considering it's basically a GUI for curl and then they spent a ton of money on some party with famous singers or something.

A bit sad, but I guess that’s the new normal.

Switched to intellij http scratches ages ago. Then go curl. I remember a bunch of people using postman from a decade to a few years ago. It's been a while since I've seen anyone. Probably people who do it rarely but haven't taken the time to change tools.

Would you be willing to pay for a local only postman alternative if it was built by hand and native (no electron)?
