kagi.com is also immediately the homepage. Does Kagi have a HTML only / no JS version, for search only?

If you disable js in your browser and kagi works just fine

I've noticed most people find declining utility with the web. what real use is web search? is it still a compelling publishing medium?

They use several search engines, and they clean up and customize the results according to your preferences

Surely I am not the only one that has basically stopped using web search almost completely? Wikipedia, YouTube search I still use sure, but almost anything I'd have searched Google for 5 years ago I just...plop into ChatGPT now. No outdated StackOverflow links, no Pinterest spam, no generic SEO slop. It seems Kagi has some AI stuff...but...why?

If you'd like to skip all those garbage results but not deal with an AI then kagi is great. Also, they don't track you and sell your data like AI companies surely do (or will do soon)

Note sure what plan your on, but ChatGPT is going to use Codex credits starting sometime in December. The $20 all you can eat dinner plan has come to an end...
Since work gives me a generous API token allowance only use the $20 sub for side projects but still going to hurt using Codex credits for regular ChatGPT questions. Has been my goto instead of Google also but.....

Meh, I'd rather see some early 2000s level Google ads then have a yet another account + subscription, please.

Isn't the whole point of this announcement that you don't need an account? The 50 searches they mention is just client side stored. if you don't store cookies for kagi.com you have unlimited searches.
