Having the brain making more connexions and using more resources to do the same thing could be seen, from one point of view, as waste ?
Not that I disagree with the article, of course. Test results speak for themselves, but for example, when I am writing stories, do I need to "better remember" them, or do I need to go faster through my first draft ? (3 years and counting at the moment...wish me luck !)
To me bicycles are for health and for short distances. Cars are for heavy objects and long distances.
I used to ride bicycles to the train station, then get a train to another city and ride it on the other side. Which kind of alters that.
Essentially for me at least, bicycles and cars have entirely different uses.
A pen on the other hand, is just a worse version of a keyboard. Unless I'm signing a document. Though as the years pass, that is increasingly done digitally and often doesn't even involve hand movements that anywhere near resemble pen use.
Really made me think hard.
There's also the pens that use cameras and special papers like livescribe (I think?) but I didn't love those either.
